Thousands of worshippers have taken part in the first Eid-ul-Fitr congregation at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka after a month of fasting.
The congregation ended at 7am on Saturday, with prayers offered for the welfare of the country and the nation.
Residents from across the capital begin arriving from early morning to take part, dressed in traditional attire, including panjabi, pyjama, and prayer caps. Many wore attar fragrances.
Children and teenagers attended alongside their guardians.
Tight security measures are in place around Baitul Mukarram for the Eid congregation, with archways installed at entry points.
The mosque filled up before 7am, with the first congregation led by senior Pesh Imam Maulana Mizanur Rahman.
After the prayers, worshippers embraced each other, exchanging Eid greetings, while many captured the moment on mobile phones through selfies.
As in previous years, five Eid congregations are being held at Baitul Mukarram.
The second congregation at 8am was led by Pesh Imam Mufti Muhibbullahil Baqi Nadvi.
The third congregation at 9am was conducted by Islamic Foundation Deputy Director Maulana Zakir Hossain.
The fourth congregation is scheduled for 10am, and will be led by religious trainer Maulana Zobayer Ahmed Al Azhari from the Imam Training Academy.
The fifth and final congregation at 10:45am will be led by the Islamic Foundation’s Mufti Maulana Mohammad Abdullah.
