It has been raining in Dhaka city from late Saturday night and into Sunday morning. That rain turned torrential after dawn, causing waterlogging on several roads in the capital.
There was water on the road from the Dainik Bangla intersection to Farkirapul. The Purana Paltan Culvert Road is knee-deep in water and many small businesses in the area are inundated.
Waterlogging could also be seen from Shapla Chattar to the Tikatuli intersection and in the alleys of the Arambagh and Fakirapul areas. The rain was causing traffic congestion in the Dilkusha and Motijheel commercial areas, causing difficulties for commuters.
The main roads in the Shantinagar, Rajarbagh, and Naya Paltan were almost knee-deep in water. Water could also be seen in the alleys of Kakrail.
Despite the rain, the metro rail is running on schedule. The rush of passengers was high, with the Secretariat and Motijheel stations crowded by commuters.

Meanwhile, there have been reports that some schools in the capital have postponed their half-yearly and other regular examinations due to the rain.

bdnews24.com Correspondent Md Waliullah said from the Lake City area: “The rickshaw fare from Khilkhet to Lake City is Tk 30. If several people get on together, they can ride for Tk 10-20. But, since the water is close to the knees along the entire road, even if a few people get together, they are charging Tk 100 in rickshaw fare from each person.
“Vans rickshaws can be seen operating as passenger vehicles. They are charging Tk 50 from each person as fare. Even though we searched for other forms of transport, we could not find a CNG autorickshaw."
