Khulna journalist Bulu ‘jumped to his death’, says police after CCTV review

His viscera samples have been collected for chemical examination

River police say Khulna journalist Wahid Uz Zaman Bulu died after jumping off Khan Jahan Ali Bridge into the Rupsa River.

In a statement on Thursday, police said they reached the conclusion after reviewing footage from two CCTV cameras installed on the bridge.

On Sunday evening, river police recovered a body from under the bridge. Relatives later identified it as 60-year-old Bulu.

“The footage showed that at 2:20pm that day, journalist Wahid Uz Zaman Bulu jumped from the bridge on his own,” the statement said.

Following the recovery, Bulu’s brother filed an unnatural death case with Labanchara Police Station.

River police are investigating the case, and viscera samples have been collected after a post-mortem for chemical examination.
