Three people have died and four others injured in a collision between a truck and a minibus on the Konabari flyover in Gazipur.

The crash occurred on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway on Sunday evening, said Abu Naser Al Amin, assistant commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (Konabari zone).

The dead are Maulana Alimuddin Ruhani, 40, Md Saddam Hossain, 30, and Shimul Nahar, 36.

Police said the Chandra-bound minibus lost control and crashed into the rear of a rod-laden truck, leaving the front portion of the vehicle badly mangled.

Of them, one died on the spot.

Locals rushed the injured to nearby hospitals, where another victim died on the way, and a third later succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment.

Of the four injured passengers, two have been admitted to Konabari Popular Hospital and two others to Konabari Central Hospital for treatment.

Police and Fire Service personnel later removed the damaged vehicles and restored traffic on the highway, said SI Abdul Hamid of Konabari Police Station.
