Police have announced a reward for information leading to the arrest of the arsonists who burned the house of a Hindu man in Raozan, which was found locked from outside.
Chattogram Range Deputy Inspector General Ahsan Habib Palash made the announcement during a visit to the affected house at Sultanpur on Wednesday.
The attack occurred on Tuesday morning at the house of Sukh Sheel, an expatriate living in Qatar.
His sister and her husband live in the house along with their family.
Police seized banners containing names and mobile numbers of political personalities and government officials from the scene of the arson attack.
A media statement issued by the Chattogram district police on Wednesday said the arson attack caused a loss of Tk 800,000 to 1,000,000 reducing furniture, other valuables, and important documents to ashes.
It added that police promised financial assistance to the affected family to help them rebuild the house.

Those who will provide information leading to the arrest of the attackers will be appropriately rewarded, the statement said.
It confirmed that a case has been filed at the Raozan Police Station over the attack.
A similar arson attack was reported in the Raozan municipality on Saturday morning on the houses of Bimal Talukder and Rubel Das.
The residents of the houses found themselves locked inside when they tried to run away after the houses were set on fire.
White clothes were used to tie doors at the houses. Kerosene-soaked cloth was found on the courtyards of the houses, witnesses said.
On Friday, similar arson attacks were made on the houses of Sadhan Barua, Sona Pal and Kamini Mohon Pal in the municipality.
The arson attack was followed by the discoveries of kerosene-soaked clothes and banners with names and phone numbers of political leaders and high-ranking government officials written in them.
