The Election Commission (EC) has included plans to support political parties’ campaigns after the schedule announcement in its roadmap for the national election.
The roadmap specifies that following the announcement of the schedule, the EC will send letters to state-run Bangladesh Betar and BTV to broadcast speeches of party chiefs and other campaign content.
Under the EC’s guidance, these broadcasts will also be available for dissemination across electronic media.

After the allocation of symbols, the EC will provide an opportunity for contesting candidates to present their election manifestos on the same platform under the supervision of constituency-based returning officers, with voters and stakeholders in attendance.
District election offices will be involved in managing the process.
The EC Secretariat unveiled the roadmap on Thursday, setting out the commission’s plans in preparation for the election.
EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed outlined the main points after the commission’s approval.
Asked about the polling date and schedule announcement, Akhtar did not give a specific date.
He said the schedule will be released 60 days before the vote.
“The Chief Advisor’s Office has told us the election should be held before Ramadan. If I’m not mistaken, Ramadan will begin on the 17th or 18th of February, but that depends on the sighting of the moon.”
The EC had previously hinted that the schedule would likely be announced in the first half of December.
Following a letter from Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus asking elections in February, Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin had also said the schedule would be released roughly 60 days before the vote.
After the EC’s meeting on Aug 7, Election Commissioner Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah said: “You can expect the schedule to be declared two months before the polls. It’s safe to assume we’ll take care of that announcement in the first half of December.”
The roadmap, spanning 21 pages, details the EC’s proposed activities for the election, including expected start and end dates, and the departments responsible for implementation.
It includes training and briefing proposals for the Electoral Inquiry Committee, scheduled to begin on Dec 1 and conclude by Dec 25.
Comments in the roadmap note that the committee will operate in accordance with its code of conduct and the Representation of the People Order after the schedule is announced.
The roadmap says that meetings with representatives of law-enforcing agencies will be held on Nov 16 to propose fund allocations based on sector-specific rates and departmental breakdowns.
This process is expected to be completed by Nov 20, 2025, about a month before the expected schedule announcement.
This suggests the election schedule is likely to be declared in the second or third week of December.
