Six people have been killed and five others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a three-wheeler Mahindra in Phulpur Upazila of Mymensingh.
The crash took place around 8:45pm on Friday near the Courier Bridge on the Mymensingh-Haluaghat road under the municipality, said Phulpur Police Station chief (OC) Abdul Hadi.
Police could not immediately identify the dead or the injured.
Quoting local residents, police said the Shyamoli Bangla Paribahan bus was heading to Dhaka from Haluaghat, while the Mahindra was travelling towards Haluaghat from Phulpur.
After the head-on impact, the Mahindra crashed into a roadside electric pole and was completely mangled. Six passengers died on the spot.
Five others were seriously injured.
Fire Service and police personnel rushed to the scene and rescued the victims.
The injured were admitted to the Upazila Health Complex.
Following the accident, an enraged mob set the bus on fire.
