A railway worker has been found dead in Brahmanbaria's Akhaura.

Police recovered the hanging and partially decomposed body from a rented house in the municipality's Masjidpara area on Thursday, said Akhaura Police Station chief Md Shomiuddin.

The dead man was identified as 47-year-old Enamul Haque. He worked as an assistant train driver and lived alone.

Shomiuddin said that local residents had not seen Enamul leave the house in several days. On Thursday night, they noticed a foul smell coming from the locked house and alerted the police.

“Police broke the door and found him hanging inside. The body has been sent to the district hospital for autopsy.”

Akhaura Railway Police Station chief SM Shafiqul Islam said, “As the incident occurred outside the railway station’s jurisdiction, it falls beyond our purview. The family hasn't filed any complaint with us either. Akhaura police are investigating the matter.”

Shomiuddin added, “As of 10:30am on Friday, the family hasn't filed any complaint. We have registered an unnatural death case.”
