Government not thinking of online classes right now, says state minister

Bobby says any major decision on the education system would be coordinated through the cabinet

The government is not considering a shift to online classes at the moment, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj has said.

The statement follows recent discussions regarding potential measures to tackle the ongoing energy crisis, triggered by the escalating conflict in the Middle East.

Speaking after visiting Sher-e-Bangla Government Primary School in Dhaka on Monday, the state minister emphasised that any major decision on the education system would be coordinated through the cabinet under the premier's leadership.

Bobby said the government places strong importance on the educational environment.

He explained that decisions on the energy crisis would be made by the cabinet rather than solely by his ministry or the education ministry, adding that recent discussions in the cabinet indicate there are no plans to shift to online classes.

The state minister’s comments come a day after Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon suggested that a hybrid system, combining in-person and online classes, was being evaluated for the city to save fuel.
