Prof Kamrul Ahsan appointed new vice chancellor of Jahangirnagar University

The Ministry of Education issues a notice to the effect on Thursday

Kamrul Ahsan, a professor in the Department of Philosophy at Jahangirnagar University, has been appointed as the institution’s new vice chancellor.

The Ministry of Education issued a notice to the effect on Thursday.

Ahsan was appointed to the post based on five conditions according to orders from President and Chancellor Mohammed Shahabuddin, the notice from the Secondary and Higher Education Division said.

The conditions are that the appointment to the post will be effective from the date of joining, the pay and allowances will be equivalent to his present post, that other benefits related to the post will be provided as per the rules, that he will have to remain on the university campus full time as its chief executive officer, and that the president and chancellor can cancel his appointment at any time if necessary.

Following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government on Aug 5, Jahangirnagar University Vice Chancellor Prof Nurul Alam resigned on Aug 7, citing personal and family reasons.
