‘FSDS’ launched for research on good governance

A new think tank, the “Foundation for Strategic and Development Studies”, or FSDS, has been launched to carry out research on the state's good governance, national security, development, and policy making.

The foundation's chairman, retired maj gen Fazle Elahi Akbar, spoke about the organisation’s objectives and goals at the inaugural ceremony at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel in Dhaka on Sunday night.

Army chief Gen Waker-Uz-Zaman, Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, and Navy chief Admiral M Nazmul Hassan were in attendance, alongside former army chiefs Abu Belal Mohammad Shafiul Huq and Lt Gen M Nuruuddin Khan.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, economist Prof Mahbub Ullah, political analyst Dilara Choudhury, law teacher Borhan Uddin Khan, and Jahangirnagar University Vice-Chancellor Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan attended the event.

Open University Vice-Chancellor Prof ABM Obaidul Islam, Prothom Alo Editor Matiur Rahman, Daily Star Editor Mahfuz Anam, Manab Zamin Editor Matiur Rahman Chowdhury, Dainik Desh Rupantor Editor Kamal Uddin Sabuj, and Ekushey Television Chairman Abdus Salam were also present.

BNP Standing Committee members Abdul Moin Khan, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, and Hafizuddin Ahmed also joined the event.
