“Top” criminal Subrata Bain has been sent to jail after being questioned by police custody in an arms case filed with the Hatirjheel Police Station.

On Thursday, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmin Akter rejected his bail petition and ordered him back to jail after a hearing.

Sub-Inspector Riyad Ahmed of Hatirjheel police, the investigating officer in the case, produced Subrata in court following an eight-day remand and requested that he be held in custody.

Subrata was remanded for eight days after his arrest from Kushtia on May 27.

His three alleged associates, Abu Rasel Masud alias Molla Masud, Arafat Ibn Nasir alias Shooter Arafat, and MAS Sharif were also sent to jail following a six-day remand on Tuesday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Subrata and Masud are leaders of the 'Seven Star' crime syndicate. They are among the 23 most wanted criminals on the government’s list.
