The Cabinet Division has formed an eight-member committee to assess the demands of BSc degree and diploma holders in the engineering sector and to make recommendations.
The Chief Advisor’s Office announced the move on Wednesday, saying the committee will examine the reasonableness of the demands before finalising its report.
The committee will be chaired by Power Advisor Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan.
Other members include Industry Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan, Education Advisor Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar, and Environment Advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan.
Also on the committee are Mohammad Rezaul Islam, president of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh, Md Kabir Hossain, president of the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh, Dr Tanvir Manzur, chairman of the Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education, and Kazi Mohammad Mozammel Hoque, additional secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration, who will serve as member secretary.
According to the notification, the committee will submit its report with recommendations within one month.
It may also bring in additional members if necessary.
The Ministry of Public Administration will provide secretarial support, and the notification stated that the decision took effect immediately.
