Nine "July activists" have been appointed to Chattogram Port.
The Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) hired them on a one-year contract on Monday.
“The positions they have been given are not part of the revenue cadre. They will receive their salaries according to the outsourcing policy,” said Omar Faruk, director, CPA.
The have been deployed at the Port Training Centre, Hydrography Division, Port Girls’ High School, Naval Engineering Division, Naval Department, Electrical Division, Finance & Accounts Division, and Planning Division.
The appointees are Arabi Mohammad Al Miraj, Mohammad Shakil, Md Meheroz Hossain, Mahbubul Alam, Md Shefatul Kader, Saiful Islam, Mohammad Tarek, Md Amir Hossain, and Md Ibrahim.
Director Faruk noted that the "July activists" would have to compete with general candidates if their jobs were to be regularised.
