Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is attending office on Saturday despite it being a government holiday, continuing a practice he has followed since taking charge.

He arrived at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in Tejgaon at 10:15am on Saturday.

His Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Ruman said the premier left his residence in Gulshan for the office and carrying out official duties there.

The day’s programme included an exchange of views with officers and employees of the PMO, he added.

“The prime minister sought cooperation from officers and employees in implementing his election manifesto,” the additional press secretary said.

Advisors Mirza Abbas, Ismail Zabihullah, Rashed Humayun Kabir, Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, ATM Shamsul Islam, Zahed Ur Rahman, and Principal Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar were present at the meeting with officials.

Rumon said Tarique would join an iftar hosted by Jamaat-e-Islami in the afternoon at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre.

Since taking office on Feb 17, Tarique has been working from the PMO every Saturday.

Last week, he held office at the Secretariat.
