Child’s body found hanging from tree in Noakhali

The inquest report shows no sign of injury, says Sub Inspector Mozammel Hossain

Police have recovered the body of a child hanged from a mango tree in a house in Noakhali Sadar Upazila.

The body was recovered from the new house of Billal Daktar in Ward No. 3 of Dharmapur Union of the Upazila around 11pm on Sunday, said Sudharam Police Station Sub Inspector Mozammel Hossain.

The deceased, 11-year-old, was the daughter of Md Belal of that family.

Citing the family, police said that both of Jannat’s parents have jobs. On the day of the incident, both were in their respective workplaces.

As usual, Jannat stayed home with her little brother.

In the evening, Jannat’s brother went to play outside and she remained at home alone. Upon her return to home, Jannat’s mother could not find her and began looking.

At one point, she found Jannat’s body hanged from a mango tree in the courtyard of the house and screamed. Then neighbours rushed in and called the police.

The inquest report showed no sign of injury, said Sub-Inspector Mozammel.

The body has been sent to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital morgue for a post-mortem.
