The interim government has carried out a major administrative move in a single day, issuing two separate orders to appoint new deputy commissioners (DCs) in 23 districts ahead of the general election.
In the second notification on Thursday night, 15 new DCs were assigned to different districts, while orders for the transfer of two previous DCs were cancelled.
With these moves, a total of 49 districts have received new district administrators within the past week.
On the same day, the government also appointed four new divisional commissioners -- three new faces and one transferred from another division.
9 DCs REASSIGNED
In the first notification of the night, new DCs were assigned to nine districts.
The Narayanganj DC was transferred to Chattogram, while officials from multiple departments were posted as district administrators in the remaining eight districts.
The notification from the Ministry of Public Administration also said that eight other DCs have been moved back to ministries and departments in the rank of deputy secretary.
The newly appointed district administrators will serve in Chattogram, Lakshmipur, Munshiganj, Netrokona, Chapainawabganj, Naogaon, Khagrachhari, Cumilla and Narayanganj.
Meanwhile, DCs from Chapainawabganj, Munshiganj, Naogaon, Khagrachhari, Lakshmipur, Chattogram, Netrokona and Cumilla have been sent back to different ministries and departments.
