The fire at the Udichi Shilpigosthi office has been contained.
The fire broke out at the cultural organisation’s office near the National Press Club in Dhaka, around 7:30pm on Friday.
Fire Service spokesperson Md Shahjahan said they received news of a fire at the Udichi office at 7:42pm.
Within four minutes, a Fire Service unit reached the spot. After several minutes of effort, the flames was brought under control at 8:13pm.
Currently, four fire service units are working at the site.
Jamshed Anwer Tapan, general secretary of one faction of Udichi Shilpigosthi, told bdnews24.com at 8pm: “Half an hour ago, an attack took place at the Udichi office. I am on my way there. I am currently en route. I will provide details later.”
Organisational secretary of one faction of the organisation, Arif Noor, told bdnews24.com: “There is a fire burning at our office right now. Our room is slightly further inside, we saw fire burning in that room as well. We are outside. Efforts to extinguish the fire are under way.”
