Being reassured by Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid and police of effective measures, they gave the authorities one more day and left Kakrail intersection where hundreds of students of the institution gathered, blocking traffic on Monday.

Students from Notre Dame College, Viqarunnisa Noon School and College and Siddheshwari Girls’ College joined them in the afternoon.

DMP Deputy Commissioner Shibli Noman went to Kakrail around 1:30pm and urged the protesters to clear the street.

"We have all information on Risha murder case accused Obaidul. He will be arrested and brought to justice within 48 hours," he told them.

Nahid also went to Kakrail to speak to the demonstrators.

"We will do whatever is necessary for the trial," he said.

"I'll meet and discuss the matter with the prime minister today. This monster must be tried," he said.

The protesters later postponed the demonstration until 12pm Tuesday.
