Main Eid-ul-Fitr prayers timings announced

Keeping with past years, the main Eid-ul-Fitr congregation in capital Dhaka will be held at the National Eidgah Maidan at 8:30am on Thursday.

Baitul Mukarram National Mosque’s Senior Imam Maulana Mohammad Mizanur Rahman will conduct the prayers at the ground, the Islamic Foundation said in a media statement on Tuesday.
 
People from all social strata, including President Md Abdul Hamid, judges, Cabinet members, MPs and politicians, are expected to join the congregation.
 
Five congregations will also be held separately at Baitul Mukarram at 7am, 8am, 9am, 10am and 11am on the Eid day, the Islamic Foundation said.
 
Saudi Arabia and the other Middle Eastern countries will celebrate the Eid on Wednesday, as the moon of the Islamic calendar month of Shawwal was not sighted there.
 
Eid is usually celebrated in Bangladesh a day after Saudi Arabia.
 
The National Moon Sighting Committee on Tuesday evening announced that Muslims in Bangladesh will celebrate the Eid on Thursday as the Shawwal moon was not sighted in here too.

Md Abdul Jalil, the secretary-in-charge to religious affairs ministry, had earlier said that the main congregation in Dhaka will be held at 9am at Baitul Mukarram in case of inclement weather.
 

There will be separate places in the National Eidgah ground for women and foreign envoys and diplomats to join the prayers, Jalil had said.
Along with National Eidgah and Baitul Mukarram, over 400 Eid congregations will be held in the capital.
The Dhaka South City Corporation has arranged 228 congregations in its 57 wards, while the DCC North has arranged 180 in 36 wards.
Two congregations will be held at the Dhaka University Central Mosque at 8am and 9am.
Parliament’s South Plaza will hold another gathering, starting at 8am.

Like every year, the biggest Eid congregation of the country will be held at the Sholakia Eidgah in Kishoreganj. Maulana Farid Uddin Masud will conduct the Eid prayers at 10am on the Eid day.

In Chittagong, the main congregation will be held at the Jamiatul Falah Mosque at 8:30am, and the second at 9:30am.
 
There will be one congregation at the Baklia City Corporation Stadium and one at the Laldighi Maidan at 8:30am. Another congregation will be held at Jalalabad Arefin Nagar City Corporation Jame Mosque at 8:15am.
 
In Rajshahi, the main prayer will take place at the city’s Central Eidgah Maidan at 8am. In case of rough weather, several prayers will be held at Hazrat Shah Makhdum Darga Jame Mosque.
 
The main congregation in Sylhet will be at the historic Shahi Eidgah at 8:30am. At the same time, Eid prayers will also be held at the mosques in Hazrat Shahjalal and Hazrat Shah Paran's shrines and other Eidgahs and mosques in the city.
 
In Khulna, the main prayer will be held at Khulan Town Jame Mosque at 8am. Two more congregations will also be held there at 9am and 10am.
 
The main congregation in Barisal will take place at Hemayetuddin Central Eidgah Maidan at 8:30am.
 
But the biggest congregation of the division has been scheduled at Charmonai Darbar Sharif Maidan at 9am.
 
Collectorate Eidgah will host the main congregation in Rangpur at 8:30am. The prayers in other Eidgah and mosques in the city will be held between 8:30am and 10am.
