A circular issued by the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) said automobile owners will have to collect these plates issued for them by BRTA latest by Mar 31.

In October this year, it had set Dec 31 as the deadline.

The hi-tech license plates, aimed at curbing road rage and monitor movement of vehicles, were launched by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in 2012.

RFID-tagged retro-reflective license plates will help identify a vehicle and also will help to curb use of fake plates on vehicles.
