PM seeks Belarus investment

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged the Belarus government and businessmen to invest in Bangladesh.

She made this appeal at a meeting of the FBCCI and the Belarus Chamber of Commerce and Industries held at the Minsk National Library in Belarus on Tuesday.

Local news agency Belarusian Telegraph Agency (BELTA) said Mikhail Myasnikovich was also present.

Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh had the most liberal investment and trade regulations among South Asian countries. “Your presence is valuable along with our development and prosperity.”

She spoke of the special incentives and eased guidelines in Bangladesh’s industry, agriculture, food processing, water transport, renewable energy, tourism, ICT goods and services, medicine and ceramic sectors.

“South Asia is a big market of three billion people. The buying ability and demand here is increasing rapidly.”

Mikhail Myasnikovich said Belarus had agreed to work together to increase bilateral trade cooperation.

According to the BELTA report, the trade between the two countries was worth $43 million between January and April this year.
