Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus has said as long as Bangladesh exists, Sharif Osman Hadi will remain in the hearts of all Bangladeshis.

In an emotional tribute to Inqilab Moncho Convenor Hadi during his funeral prayers at the parliament's South Plaza on Saturday, Yunus said: "Thousands have gathered here today. Not just here, but across the entire country and among the diaspora abroad, people are waiting to hear of Hadi. Dear Osman Hadi, we have not come here to say goodbye. You live within our hearts. As long as Bangladesh exists, you will remain an inseparable part of this nation.”

He emphasised that the gathering was not a final farewell, but a collective oath to fulfill Hadi’s vision. He noted that the activist’s political philosophy and deep love for humanity had earned universal praise.

Yunus also highlighted Hadi’s approach to democratic engagement, noting his desire to contest elections and the civilised manner in which he conducted his campaigns.

"You showed us how to reach the people with humility, how to express views without causing distress, and how to conduct a campaign with grace," the Chief Advisor said. "We accept this lesson and wish to implement it. We want to elevate our political culture to a level where Hadi’s example remains vividly alive."

Thousands of people participated in Hadi’s funeral prayers.

Hadi was shot earlier this month and died in Singapore while undergoing treatment.
