A married citizen needs to have a bank account balance of $9,333 (SR 35,000) and pay a minimum salary of SR 10,000 to recruit house workers.

The house worker category includes male and female domestic workers, private drivers, babysitters, male and female cooks, waiters, and male and female nurses.

The Saudia Arabian Ministry of Labour said it had the right to verify the financial position of an applicant based on rules regarding visas for house workers.

If a foreign house worker has a contract of 18 months or greater, the ministry may issue additional visas (up to a maximum of 2). Those applying for five-year visa cards will be scrutinised according to the same regulations as Saudi citizens.

Those applying for their first visa will need to show financial ability of SR 5,000 or over and a bank balance of SR 35,000, which can increase up to SR 500,000 for the fifth visa.

Married male and female residents with salaries greater than SR10,000 will be allowed to recruit two workers, while bachelors will only be allowed one.
