Bangladesh golfer Siddikur Rahman has received a major boost in world rankings after his splendid show in Mauritius and is now well in the hunt for a berth in the forthcoming Rio Olympics.

According to the Official World Golf Ranking website, Siddikur, who was world number 406 on the list published on May 8, has soared to 274th after becoming runner-up in the AfrAsian Mauritius Bank Open.
The Olympic golf competition will comprise 60 golfers for men and women competitions each.
As per the world rankings on Jul 11, a maximum of four players will be allowed from each country holding the top 15 positions, according to the International Golf Federation.
Beyond that, a maximum of two players will be eligible from each country that does not already have two or more players among the top 15.
Following those conditions, the 31-year-old golfer has surged to 54th in the Olympic rankings, which is generated using the world rankings.
Siddikur must maintain his position until the cut-off date to seal a place in the Rio Games, which are set to begin in August.
On Sunday, Siddikur missed out on a third Asian Tour title after a birdie at the final hole saw him lose to South Korean youngster Jeunghun Wang by one stroke at the Four Seasons Golf Club Anahita.
Siddikur won his first Asian Tour title in Brunei in 2010. In 2013, he earned his second title in the Hero Indian Open.
