Stocks close higher

The Dhaka Stock Exchange also registers a relatively higher turnover.

The Dhaka Stock Exchange ended Wednesday's trade with an increase in its key index and with a relatively higher turnover.

At close, the General Index stood at 4,181 points – over 46 points more than its previous close.

Shares and mutual funds worth over Tk 2.45 billion changed hands, with 201 issues gaining, 51 declining and 18 remaining unchanged.

On Tuesday, the key index rose a little over 1 percent amid around Tk 2.02 billion turnover.

Trade at the two bourses was did not take place Sunday for the Victory Day. On Monday, the premiere bourse's benchmark index gained nearly 89 points.

The key index gained around 0.55 percent or around 22 points through the last week's trade with a daily average turnover of around Tk 1.92 billion.
