BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called on party leaders, workers, and the public to remain vigilant during the Durga Puja celebrations, urging them to prevent any acts of sabotage.

In a statement on Wednesday, he called on everyone to ensure that Durga Puja is celebrated “peacefully, in a spirit of harmony and coexistence”.

Fakhrul also urged BNP members to work tirelessly to ensure security at puja pavilions across the country.

“I urge BNP workers to act as vigilant sentinels to safeguard puja venues,” he added.

He congratulated the Hindu community on the occasion of Durga Puja, saying: “The religious festivals of any community inspire joy and goodwill among all communities. For centuries, the Durga Puja has been celebrated with great dignity and respect in Bangladesh.”

Fakhrul emphasised the importance of unity among communities, stressing: “We must stay vigilant and thwart any malicious intent, ensuring the preservation of our long-standing tradition of communal harmony.”

Durga Puja begins on Sept 21 with Mahalaya, followed by the major rituals on Sept 28–Oct 1.
