The BNP has won 13 of Dhaka’s 20 parliamentary seats in Thursday’s election, consolidating its position as the party set to form the next government.
The remaining seven seats in the capital were secured by candidates from the Jamaat-e-Islami-led 11-party alliance.
Nationwide turnout stood at 59.44 percent, according to the Election Commission, with the BNP-led alliance maintaining an overall edge -- a trend mirrored in the capital.
In Dhaka-1, BNP’s Khandaker Abu Ashfaq won with 173,781 votes, defeating Jamaat’s Mohammad Nazrul Islam.
BNP’s Md Amanullah Aman won Dhaka-2 with 163,793 votes, while Abdul Haq of Jamaat-e-Islami secured 80,053.
In Dhaka-3, BNP leader Gayeshwar Chandra Roy garnered 98,785 votes, ahead of Jamaat’s Shahinul Islam with 82,232.
Jamaat-e-Islami claimed Dhaka-4, where Syed Zainul Abedin received 77,367 votes, narrowly defeating BNP’s Tanveer Ahmed, who obtained 74,447.
The party also won Dhaka-5, where Md Kamal Hossain secured 96,641 votes against BNP candidate Md Nabiullah’s 87,491.
BNP’s Ishraque Hossain prevailed in Dhaka-6 with 78,850 votes, while Jamaat’s Md Abdul Mannan received 55,697.
In Dhaka-7, BNP’s Hamidur Rahman polled 104,666 votes, surpassing Jamaat’s Md Enayet Ullah, who secured 98,483.
In Dhaka-8, BNP leader Mirza Abbas won with 59,366 votes, defeating National Citizen Party candidate Nasiruddin Patwary, who received 54,127.
BNP’s Habibur Rashid also triumphed in Dhaka-9, polling 111,212 votes against NCP’s Mohammad Javed Mia’s 53,460.
Sheikh Rabiul Alam of the BNP captured Dhaka-10 with 80,436 votes, narrowly ahead of Jamaat’s Jasim Uddin, who polled 77,136.
In Dhaka-11, NCP leader Nahid Islam won with 93,872 votes, edging out BNP’s MA Quayum, who received 91,833.
Jamaat’s Saiful Alam secured Dhaka-12 with 53,777 votes, defeating Saiful Haque of the Revolutionary Workers Party, who obtained 30,963.
BNP-backed candidate Bobby Hajjaj won Dhaka-13 with 88,387 votes, narrowly ahead of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis candidate Mamunul Haque, who secured 86,067.
Jamaat-e-Islami’s Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem won Dhaka-14 with 101,113 votes, defeating BNP’s Sanjida Islam, who received 83,323.
The party also secured Dhaka-15, where party chief Shafiqur Rahman polled 85,131 votes against BNP’s Md Shafiqul Islam Khan’s 63,517.
In Dhaka-16, Jamaat’s Abdul Baten won with 88,828 votes, narrowly ahead of BNP’s Aminul Haque, who received 85,467.
BNP chief Tarique Rahman won Dhaka-17 with 72,699 votes, defeating Jamaat’s S M Khaliduzzaman, who polled 68,300.
In Dhaka-18, BNP’s S M Jahangir secured a decisive victory with 144,715 votes against NCP’s Ariful Islam’s 111,297.
BNP’s Dewan Mohammad Salahuddin also won Dhaka-19 with 190,976 votes, while NCP candidate Dilshana Parul secured 125,283. In Dhaka-20, BNP’s Md Tamiz Uddin won with 162,504 votes, defeating NCP candidate Nabila Tasnim, who received 57,787.
