‘Dumping station’ teems with battery-run rickshaws

Battery-powered rickshaws are frequently seized from Dhaka’s streets. Despite the ban, many still operate illegally. Once confiscated, they are taken to the Postogola “dumping station”. Although the yard also holds buses, trucks, and autorickshaws, the overwhelming majority are battery rickshaws. Owners and drivers retrieve them after paying fines to the traffic police.
