Dhaka, Jul 20 (bdnews24.com) – Health Minister A F M Ruhal Haque laid the foundation for the construction of Satkhira Medical College on Friday, six months after it began its journey at a temporary campus.
According to a media release, the minister asked the authorities concerned to monitor the construction so that 'it is completed in time'.
"Lapses (in works) will not be accepted," he warned.
The construction will cost Tk 860 million and is set to be finished by 2013.
There are 22 government medical colleges and 53 private medical colleges in Bangladesh. The current government has set up five medical colleges and approved 21 private medical colleges in the last three-and-a-half years of its tenure.
The Health Minister had, however, said earlier they would not approve anymore medical colleges, at least for now.
