Bangladesh’s Tangia Zaman Methila has earned a place in the top 30 of the Miss Universe contest, delivering a proud achievement even though the coveted crown remained out of reach.
Methila had stood out earlier in the People’s Choice category, rising at times to the top position during the voting race.
The final results of the 74th Miss Universe were announced in Bangkok on Friday.

Mexico’s Fatima Bosch secured the title, surpassing 120 competitors from around the world.
Methila drew global attention through her wardrobe, styling, and jewellery choices throughout the event.
In an interview following the announcement, she said: “I tried to give my best. Since this is a competition, there will always be a final result. But I have created history for Bangladesh, our name has reached the top 30.

“The journey begins with me. I hope more representatives from Bangladesh will take this forward. I am grateful to everyone who supported me.”
Miss Universe Bangladesh authorities said in a Facebook post, “This is a historic moment for Bangladesh. Congratulations to Methila and thank you to all supporters.”
This year’s Miss Universe activities spanned 19 days across Thailand, with contestants taking part in camp sessions in Bangkok, Phuket, and Pattaya.
Participants also faced People’s Choice voting, a selection round, and several assessment stages.

The runners-up were Miss Thailand Praveenar Singh, Miss Venezuela Stephany Abasali, followed by Miss Philippines Ma Ahtisa Manalo and Miss Cote d’Ivoire Olivia Yace.
Methila began her career in modelling. She gained international attention after representing Bangladesh in Face of Bangladesh and Face of Asia in 2019.
She won Miss Universe Bangladesh in 2020 but could not compete internationally due to Covid restrictions. She returned this year as the national titleholder to participate in the global competition.

Beyond fashion, she has also worked in acting, including in Hindi films.
Her Bollywood debut came in 2019 with the film Rohingya. Her social-media presence, lifestyle features, and public visibility have contributed to both popularity and occasional controversy.
