After thrillers and romantic films, Star Cineplex is giving Dhaka audiences a taste of horror, with Hollywood horror-thriller Weapons and Turkish supernatural horror Siccin 8 as its newest offerings.

According to a Star Cineplex media statement, Weapons has bagged 27 shows across its seven branches, while Siccin 8 has 13 shows.

Weapons, directed by Zach Cregger, tells the story of missing students in a small town.

The cast includes Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Cary Christopher, Austin Abrams, and Amy Madigan.

The plot follows the mysterious disappearance of 17 grade 3 students from their homes one night in the town of Maybrook.

Parents, police, teachers, and locals join the search, only to encounter a series of supernatural events that heighten their fear.

Siccin 8, the eighth instalment of the Siccin franchise, is directed by Alper Mestçi and centres on black magic and dark family secrets.

The film stars Fatih Gülnar, Melike Balçik, and Gönül Ürer, among others.

The story follows Fatih, who sends his elderly mother Gönül to a nursing home at his wife’s request.

After she leaves, strange sounds, shadows, and paranormal events surround the household.

Filled with guilt and emotional turmoil, Fatih eventually brings his mother back, only to realise the woman is not his mother at all, leading to a series of terrifying events.

The previous film, Siccin 7, was released on Jun 14 last year.
