BCB appoints former ICC anti-corruption chief amid ongoing probe on BPL

The regulating body has also hired a batting coach and a new head of turf management while introducing Mymensingh as the newest first-class team

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed former ICC anti-corruption general manager Alex Marshall as a consultant to bolster its anti-corruption unit.

Marshall, who served at the ICC until September last year, will work with the BCB for one year to oversee anti-corruption operations in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

This comes amid ongoing investigations by the BCB into allegations of corruption from the 2024-25 BPL and Dhaka Premier League seasons.

In other appointments, power-hitting specialist Julian Wood joins as batting coach for three months, following his recent stint with Sri Lanka Cricket.

Tony Hemming also returns as head of turf management on a two-year deal, after resigning from a similar role with the Pakistan Cricket Board.

“Tony Hemming has been appointed head of turf management for two years,” BCB's media committee chair Iftekhar Rahman was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

“All our international venues and curators will be under him. He will also undertake the process of training Bangladeshi curators.”

Meanwhile, Mymensingh has been introduced as the newest first-class team, replacing Dhaka Metropolis in the National Cricket League (NCL) from the upcoming season.

As one of Bangladesh's newest division team, Mymensingh will participate in all divisional tournaments but will join the NCL T20 competition from the next edition due to scheduling constraints.
