The Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) election commission has published the final list of candidates, with 179 contenders set to vie for 25 posts.
The list was announced at a press conference around 5:15pm on Friday at the university’s Senate Hall by the commission’s Member Secretary AKM Rashidul Alam.
According to the final list, 10 candidates are contesting the post of vice president (VP), nine for general secretary, six for joint general secretary (female) and 10 for joint general secretary (male).
Nine are competing for education and research secretary, six for environment and nature conservation secretary, eight for literature and publication secretary, eight for cultural secretary, eight for assistant cultural secretary, five for drama secretary, three for sports secretary, six for assistant sports secretary, and seven for information technology and library secretary.
Along with them, eight will wrest for the post of social service and human resource development secretary, seven for both male and female assistant social service and human resource development secretary, seven for health and food security secretary, and seven for transport and communication secretary.
As for executive member posts, 16 female candidates and 26 male candidates are in the running.
