International Standard University (ISU) has published the first issue of its textile-focused magazine Spandex, aimed at developing students’ creativity, innovation and presentation skills.
The magazine was launched on Thursday at the university’s media lab in an event organised by the ISU Textile Club.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Abdul Awal Khan unveiled the publication, said a media statement.
The event was chaired by Prof Md Abul Kashem, dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology and chairman of the Department of Textile Engineering.
Speaking at the event, the vice-chancellor said the textile sector remains a key driver of Bangladesh’s economy and stressed the need for innovation and problem-solving skills to sustain its growth.
He said Spandex would help students connect with industry practices and encouraged them to engage in writing, analysis and creative work beyond classroom learning, the statement read.
Prof Kashem said the magazine would help students strengthen their analytical and intellectual skills while allowing them to explore real industry challenges and propose new ideas.
The publication is an initiative of the ISU Textile Club under the Department of Textile Engineering.
