Protesting students have locked the registrar's building at Jahangirnagar University, demanding the arrest of the person involved in the attempted rape and murder of a female student on campus and the resignation of the proctorial body.
They locked the main gate of the registrar's building around 10am on Sunday.
The protesting students said the law-enforcing agencies and the university administration had failed to arrest the accused five days after the incident.
Adrita Roy, a student of the Department of Drama and Dramatics, said: "More than 100 hours have passed, but there is no news of the arrest of the absconding suspect. Whether the administration is fulfilling its duties properly also remains a question mark."
She said, "The first and most important demand among the six put forward by the students is the immediate arrest of the accused. The registrar's building has been locked to put pressure on this demand."
However, the protesters also said that students will be able to enter and exit the building in case of an emergency.

A man was accused of dragging a student into a bush and attempting to rape her while passing through the area adjacent to the old Fazilatunnesa Hall and the expanded part of Al-Beruni Hall on the university campus after 11pm on Tuesday.
The next morning, the deputy registrar of the university's security wing, Md Gafrul Hasan Chowdhury, filed a case of attempted rape and attempt to murder with the Ashulia Police Station, accusing an unknown person.
The day after the incident, the campus erupted into protests pushing for a six-point list of demands, including the resignation of the proctor, alleging his failure to ensure the safety of students.
Their demands include the quick arrest of the accused and swift justice, the resignation of the proctorial body, the strengthening of security on the campus, hiring female security personnel, forming a quick response team, and the enactment and implementation of the cyber security law.
Students have been holding various protest programmes on the campus since Wednesday to push for their demands.
On Friday, around 1am, students from different halls led a protest march from Taramon Bibi Hall. The procession ended in front of the vice-chancellor's residence after circling various roads on the campus. Later, female students from different halls stayed there overnight.

At that time, the students complained of the failure to ensure security on the campus and demanded the resignation of the entire proctorial body, including Proctor Prof AKM Rashidul Alam.
On Saturday, around 10am, the protesting students held a press conference in front of the vice-chancellor's residence. There, they complained that the administration had not taken any effective action even though the ultimatum period had expired.
Later, around 10:30am, the students marched to the proctor's office and locked it. At the same time, they declared Proctor Rashidul was unwelcome on campus.
The protesters immediately announced that the registrar's building would also be locked the next day if their demands were not met.
Meanwhile, a press release from the university administration on Saturday night said that a seven-member investigation committee has been formed to probe the incident.
The committee was formed at an emergency administrative meeting held on Saturday.
