Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib has called on Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir to make all its committees public.
“Bangladesh will not abide secret politics any longer,” he said in a Facebook post at 1am on Sunday. “All Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatra Shibir committees must be made public. It is time to examine and decide whether all of their hundreds of thousands of leaders and activists are free of family, social and personal problems or whether they are, according to their descriptions, angels from another planet.”
“Whenever the leaders and activists of the BNP, or the hundreds of thousands of its affiliates, are involved in any personal, family, social, or unpolitical problems, they are mobbed at educational institutions, filthy and indecent slogans are chanted against their top leaders, rumours spread one after the other on social media, and instantly photocards featuring a mix of truth and lies spread all over social media. In most cases, instead of facing this itself, Shibir puts their B and C teams on it.”
By keeping the names of its supporters secret, Jamaat and Shibir avoid responsibility for any “unpolitical” actions taken by them, Rakib said.
He said, “Supporters are one thing, but hundreds of thousands of their loyal leaders and activists have been kept secret for ages and even though they have been plagued by family, social, personal, political, and non-political problems, the party does not take responsibility for them. We and the religious community call Jamaat Shibir hypocrites for engaging in such Jewish-style politics of deceit.”
“This situation will not be allowed to continue. The deceitful politics of discrediting the BNP while keeping hundreds of thousands of leaders and activists a secret will not be allowed to continue. The issue will be resolved politically soon.”
