Kakhaber Benidze has been appointed Managing Director of British American Tobacco Bangladesh.
He succeeds Monisha Abraham, whose tenure saw strong business performance, the company said.
In a statement, BAT Bangladesh said Benidze brings more than 25 years of industry experience, including over 15 years in board-level management roles across the FMCG sector.
Benidze joined BAT in 2001 as a mid-career recruit and has since held senior positions in marketing, supply chain and general management, gaining experience in commercial delivery, organisational transformation, and stakeholder engagement across multiple markets.
Prior to his Bangladesh appointment, he served as general manager of BAT Switzerland and the BAT Austria Cluster, the company said.
He has also held general management roles in Ukraine, the West Asia, the Caucasus region covering Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia, Moldova, and the Europe, and Africa region.
BAT Bangladesh said his leadership has focused on business turnarounds, sustainable growth, portfolio transformation and capability building. He joined the company’s Board of Directors on May 1.
With his international experience and strategic and hands-on leadership approach, Benidze is expected to lead the company through its next phase of growth and continued contribution to Bangladesh’s economy, according to the statement.
Benidze holds an Executive MBA, a Master’s degree in jurisprudence, and a degree in Landscape Architecture.
Commenting on his appointment, Benidze was quoted as saying: “I am honoured to take on the role of Managing Director of BAT Bangladesh, one of the highest taxpayers of the nation, with a longstanding legacy of over 116 years of operations.
“I look forward to working with our talented team and partners to build on this foundation, strengthen our performance and continue contributing meaningfully to Bangladesh’s growth journey.”
The company said his appointment is expected to further strengthen its business performance, organisational capabilities and position as a long-term growth partner in Bangladesh.
