A friendly football match has marked the opening of Ceramic Expo 2025, bringing together officials from Bangladesh’s DBL Group and European representatives from international companies attending the expo.

In a media statement on Wednesday, DBL Ceramics said the match, held at Chef’s Table Courtside, 100 Fit Madani Avenue, Dhaka, was organised to promote harmony and goodwill.

The event was attended by Ambassador Antonio Alessandro with officials from the Embassy of Italy, Nuria Lopez, chairperson of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh, along with MA Rahim, vice-chairman of DBL Group, and MA Quader, DMD and Group CEO of DBL Group, it added.

As per the statement, DBL Group officials wore red jerseys, while the European delegates wore white.

After the match, Chief Business Officer of DBL Ceramics Mohammad Bayazed Bashar said: “Our goal was not just to play the game, but also to facilitate friendly relationships with the European representatives attending the expo and to strengthen those ties.

“We hope that such events will further promote collaboration and goodwill in both our business and cultural exchanges.”

Members of the European delegation thanked DBL Group for arranging the event, saying they were thrilled to participate in such a sporting event.

They expressed a keen interest in working together in the future, the statement read.

After the match, attendees engaged in friendly discussions and exchanged views about each other’s cultures and business experiences, it added.
