Chairman of the Agrani Bank Ltd Prof. Dr Khandaker Bazlul Haque has said steps would be taken to investigate allegations of a question paper leak in the written test for recruitment of Senior Officer of the state-run bank.
"We've already formed a committee to look into the matter. The members of the government security intelligence are also in the committee. Action will be taken once the findings are available," he told bdnews24.com on Saturday.
Some 42,000 job-seekers sat for the recruitment test at 15 examination centres in the city on Friday afternoon. Several of them alleged that question papers had been leaked.
Agrani Bank authorities said the Department of Management Information Systems (MIS) of Dhaka University had been given the charge of holding the test.
"The incident is totally unexpected. I will neither refute the allegations nor say that the newspaper reports are absolutely true," Bazlul Haque said:
"I was not in-charge for the recruitment test. But I've formed the probe committee on my own initiative as the bank's Chairman.
Will the incident delay the declaration of the test results? A Dhaka university teacher said: "Generally, the date is not fixed in advance. So nothing can be said at this juncture."
He, however, stressed the authorities would not tolerate such unethical acts.
"It's a national issue. A job-seeker will serve the nation for 30 years or more after appointment. So we don't want anyone to be involved in such dishonest means," Haque added.
