The home ministry in a circular on Thursday announced changes to 19 key positions.
The changes in the pecking order came just two weeks into the installation of new Inspector General of Police and heads of Dhaka Metropolitan Police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
Additional Inspector General Sheikh Himayet Hossain will lead Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
He succeeded Mokhlesur Rahman who had recently been transferred to Additional Inspector General in the Police Headquarters.
DIG Mallick Fakhrul Islam will head the Highway Police.
Additional DIG SM Ruhul Amin, who has recently returned from a UN peacekeeping mission, will helm Railway Police's Dhaka Range.
CID’s Additional Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mosharraf Hossain has been attached to the Police Headquarters.
Additional DIG Mohammad Ali Miah, who was posted at the Special Branch, has been appointed chief of Highway Police's Rajshahi Range.
Highway Police’s Additional DIG SM Kamal Hossain has been sent to the CID and Rajshahi Range Additional DIG M Khurshid Hossain transferred to the Police Headquarters.
Khulna’s Third Armed Police Battalion (APBn) commander Mostafa Kamal, Khulna Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zulfikar Ali Haider and Noakhali Police Training Centre Superintendent Miah Masud Karim have been made superintendents of Dhaka’s Police Bureau of Investigation.
Sarder Rakibul Islam, who had been in a UN peacekeeping mission, has been made Superintendent of Police for Narail district. Its current SP Abdul Quader has been transferred to the Police Headquarters.
Police Headquarters AIG Sayeed Tariqul Hasan has been made SP of Rangamati.
