The 29-year-old passed away at Singapore General Hospital on Monday night, said his grandfather KM Ferdous.

His body will arrive at the Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong at 11:30pm on Tuesday, he said.

He had suffered burn injuries, said the grandfather.

On May 13, a Bangladesh Air Force helicopter crashed at the BAF Base Zahurul Haque, next to the Chittagong airport.

Pilot Officer Fuad-bin-Ehsan and Flight Engineer Sergeant Mohammad Ferdous Kamal were also injured in the incident.

On Wednesday, Sarwar’s Namaz-e-Janaza would be held at the city’s Parade Ground at 9:30am.

He would be buried at the air force graveyard in the capital’s Banani after another Janaza prayers, said the grandfather.

Sarwar married an MBBS student last year.

The crashed helicopter was an MI-17, which was used for training, rescue, and transportation.

An official said a problem was detected in the helicopter soon after it took off around 10:30am.

The pilot sent a message to the control tower for emergency landing but he could not control the chopper.

A fire broke out as soon as the chopper crashed.
