The duty manager of the Apollo Hospitals in Dhaka told bdnews24.com he was “brought dead” at the emergency at 5:45pm on Saturday.
He retired as Bangladesh ambassador to China. He was also ambassador to Germany and high commissioner to Singapore in his long diplomatic career.
M Humayun Kabir, a former ambassador, who worked under him at the foreign ministry, told bdnews24.com that he had been suffering from heart problems. “He was a very good and forthcoming officer,” he said.
Rahman was a CSP officer in 1970 of the then Pakistan government. Then he switched to the Foreign Service in independent Bangladesh.
