The 15-strong team joined the checkposts at Benapole in Jessore on Sunday, BGB Habildar Kamal Hossain said.

He said the team from the first batch of 97 female border guards were sent to Jessore’s 26 BGB Battalion on June 15.

Of them, 13 have been posted at the International Checkpost while the two others at Amrhakhali Checkpost.

Kamal said the BGB first appointed female members to ensure women’s participation in the force in 2015.
The female members took training at Border Guard Training Centre and School in Chittagong.
Another 100 women have been appointed this year. Their training started in July.
One of the female border guards at the ICP, Nargis Akter, said, “I’ve taken it as a challenging profession. It feels good to work for the country.”
