First Hajj flight from Bangladesh lands in Saudi Arabia

A total of 14 flights are scheduled to depart from Dhaka for the kingdom throughout the day

The inaugural Hajj flight from Bangladesh has arrived in Saudi Arabia to set off this year’s pilgrimage.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG 3001 touched down at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah at 4:20am local time, according to the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Md Delwar Hossain, Bangladesh ambassador to Saudi Arabia, and Md Kamrul Islam, the Hajj counsellor, received the Muslim devotees at the terminal.

All 419 passengers on the first flight received flowers and refreshment kits upon their arrival.

Other officials present at the airport included the Consul General of the Bangladesh Consulate in Jeddah Md Sakhawat Hossain, Assistant Seasonal Hajj Officer Md Ruhul Amin, Jeddah Hajj Terminal Head of Operations Yahya Radi, and Raed Bakshawn, Manager of the Saudi welcome agency Nusuk Marhaba.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated the 2026 Hajj flight operations at Shahjalal International Airport at 11:30pm on Friday.

Fourteen flights are scheduled to leave for the kingdom on Saturday.

Among these, Biman is operating six flights, while Saudia and Flynas are each operating four flights to transport the pilgrims.
