Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called on the people of Bangladesh to help keep the country clean and tidy.
Speaking on Monday morning while inaugurating a tree-planting program along the Sarikal–Batjor Canal in Barishal’s Gournadi, he urged local residents—and the nation as a whole—to take responsibility for maintaining a clean environment.
He said, "I would like to request the people of the entire country - let us all make an effort not to throw garbage just anywhere. Suppose we drink a bottle of water and empty it — we shouldn’t just toss the bottle wherever we are. If we carry something in a plastic bag, once we have taken the item out and no longer need the bag, we should not throw it away indiscriminately. Such practices damage our environment. And when the environment is damaged, ultimately it is we who suffer, and in the future, our children will suffer as well."
"Let us remember that if we do not keep our own homes clean, if we do not take care of our own country and keep it clean, no one from outside will come and do it for us. When we see pictures or television footage of other countries, we often say, 'Look how beautiful their roads and surroundings are.' If we want our own country to be just as beautiful, then all of us must work together to make it happen."

"I Even Keep Used Tissues in My Pocket"
Sharing one of his personal habits, the prime minister said: "If you were to check my pocket right now, you would find a used tissue in it. I used it a little while ago after touching the soil and washing my hands, and instead of throwing it away there, I put it in my pocket. If I were to throw it on the ground after telling you not to litter, then I would not be practicing what I preach. That is why, since childhood, I have made it a habit to keep used tissues in my pocket. No matter which pair of trousers I am wearing, if you reach into my pocket, you will probably find a used tissue there."
He added, "Throughout the day, the used tissues accumulate in my pocket. When I return home at night, I throw them into a dustbin or another designated place for waste disposal. Over time, I have consciously tried to develop this habit, and I have succeeded in making it part of my daily routine."

The prime minister continued, "If all of us make an effort, starting today, we can develop this habit together. And if every citizen adopts this practice, we will be able to build a clean and beautiful country. Our environment will improve."
"Everyone will appreciate this country. Not only will the people of Bangladesh be proud of it, but visitors from abroad will also say that Bangladesh is a clean and beautiful country—a country whose people take care of and keep their homeland neat and well organised."
Govt Won’t Stop Rebuilding Country
The prime minister also said that his government will not allow any obstacle to stand in the way of rebuilding Bangladesh.
During an interaction with women who received Family Cards in Gournadi’s Batajor, the prime minister reaffirmed his government's commitment to national reconstruction.
He said, "We want to rebuild this country. We want to move Bangladesh forward. I always say that the ultimate source of the BNP's political power is the people. As long as the BNP enjoys the support of the people, as long as the people stand by the BNP, the BNP will not be deterred by any obstacle."
He continued, "Allah willing, the BNP will move the country forward together with the people. I conclude my remarks by seeking the support of all the people of Bangladesh—regardless of political affiliation, profession, class, religion, or opinion—for rebuilding the country and taking it forward. Allah willing, I will visit your area again, and we will meet and speak once more. May Allah protect you. Long live Bangladesh."

During the event, the prime minister asked women with Family Cards what benefits they had received after obtaining the cards.
Parul Akhter came to the stage and said, "Receiving this card has helped me a great deal. It has eased the financial difficulties of my household."
She added, "I hope that our honourable prime minister will continue to provide this kind of support to us in the future."
Responding to her remarks, the prime minister said:
"Today, I heard from our sisters that receiving the Family Card has, at least to some extent, made it easier for them to manage their households. This is exactly our goal. Our objective is to ensure that our mothers can live better and that the people of this country can enjoy an improved quality of life, even if only a little."
