Police have recovered the body of another man who is believed to have been killed in a clash between two rival groups fighting over turf in Narsingdi's Raipura Upazila.

The death toll from the violence now stands at four, local sources say.

On Thursday afternoon, the body was recovered from the Meghna River in the Gopinathpur area of Nilakshya Union in the Upazila, according to Raipura Police Station chief (OC) Md Mujibur Rahman.

The deceased, Abdul Latif, 35, was a native of Birgaon Kandapara village in the same union. He was wearing a police vest.

According to locals, the death toll from the clash has risen to four. However, officer Mujibur said that police have so far recovered three bodies.

He stated that local residents informed the police after spotting a body floating in the Meghna River in front of Rafik Member’s house in Gopinathpur. Police recovered the body, prepared an inquest report, and sent it to the district hospital morgue for a post-mortem.

Mujibur also said that if there are claims of any additional missing persons related to the clash, police will investigate and take necessary action.

Following Tuesday’s clash, the bodies of Bulbul Mia, 35, from the Sonakandi area in Nilakshya Union, and Anik Mia, 22, hailing from the Purbapara area, were found. On Wednesday afternoon, the body of Kawsar Mia, 35, was found in the Jitrampur area of the district headquarters with spear wounds. Now, Latif’s body was recovered.

Police said that on Dec 8, 2025, a migrant worker named Mamun, a supporter of the “Mister Group,” was shot dead during a clash in Darigaon village of Nilakshya Union over a local power struggle. The clash involved supporters of local leader Joba Member and members of the opposing group.

Following the incident, Joba Member, his associate Alal Munshi, and others named in the murder case went into hiding. Since then, Joba Member’s supporters had reportedly been attempting to re-enter the area several times with hired men.
