Chittagong, Dec 9 (bdnews24.com)–Former pro vice-chancellor professor Dr Mohammad Alauddin has been appointed acting vice-chancellor (VC) of Chittagong University.
President Mohammad Zillur Rahman, also the chancellor of the university, in an order on Thursday made the appointment and asked Dr Alauddin to be in that position until a regular VC is appointed in this regard.
The VC position came vacant when the former professor Dr Abu Yousuf Alam died on Nov 28 at Chittagong Medical College Hospital due to his illness.
CU acting proctor Akther Hossain told bdnews24.com that the president made the appointment in line with Section 12 (2) of Chittagong University Act-1973.
On Feb 25 last year, Dr Alauddin was made the CU pro vice-chancellor.
Apart from his new duties, Dr Alauddin will also perform his previous duties.
