Former vice-chancellor of Begum Rokeya University Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah has claimed in court that the then education minister Dipu Moni used to demand unfair things during the Awami League regime.

According to him, Dipu Moni has also spread slander against him for protesting.

He made these remarks at the bail hearing in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib on Thursday.

The same day, the detective police arrested Kalimullah from his residence in Mohammadpur. He was produced in the court around 4pm.

The investigation officer of the case, Anti-Corruption Commission Assistant Director Minhaj Bin Islam, requested that he be detained in jail.

Kalimullah’s lawyer Shahnaz Sumi filed a bail petition on his behalf, saying: “He did not do anything outside the rules. Only a few people cannot embezzle money if they want to.”
