Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has attended the plenary session of the World Economic Forum (WEF).
The Prime Minister's Additional Press Secretary, Atikur Rahman Ruman, said he joined the conference as a guest at the Dalian International Conference Centre at 9am on Wednesday.
"The prime minister is participating in the World Economic Forum conference," Ruman said. "He will speak to the world leaders who have come to the conference."
The conference is being presided over by WEF President and CEO Alois Zwingli, who also gave the opening speech.
In addition to the premier, the session was also attended by Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang, South Korean Prime Minister Kim Min-seok, Kazakhstan Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, Mongolian Prime Minister Uchral Nyam-Osor, Montenegro Prime Minister Milojko Spajić and Guinea Prime Minister Amadou Oury Bah.
The theme of this year's conference is “Innovating at Scale”.
On the sidelines of the session, Tarique discussed strengthening bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest with heads of government from the different countries, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.
The world leaders also participated in a photo session.
This is the first time Tarique has attended the World Economic Forum since being elected prime minister.
Dalian is a city in China's Liaoning Province, known as a business hub in northeast Asia.
WEF President Zwingli had met with the prime minister before the session.
